GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann will deliver a response speech following President Obama's speech to a joint-session of Congress Thursday night, even though Republicans had already decided to not give an official rebuttal earlier in the week. Bachmann has scheduled a press conference in a House television studio that is set to take place at 8:30 p.m. ET, or immediately after the President is done proposing the "American Jobs Acts," The Hill reported.

The Minnesota Congresswoman has seen her poll numbers decline and her visibility diminish since Texas Gov. Rick Perry entered the presidential race. As CNN pointed out, "She didn't get a lot of camera time in Wednesday night's Republican presidential debate," something she did not have an issue with at previous debates. Thursday's speech is therefore an opportunity for Bachmann to step back into the spotlight.

This isn't the first time Bachmann has scheduled a response to an Obama speech. As The Atlantic noted, "The congresswoman has followed Obama before--with mixed results. She gave the Tea Party response to Obama's State of the Union this year, but her message was lost amid all the jokes about how she stared at the wrong camera the whole time."

House Speaker John Boehner announced Tuesday that the Republicans would not deliver a televised response to the president's planned jobs speech, according to Fox News.
