With results still coming in from Wisconsin's historic Senate recall elections, Democrats are still clinging to a narrow chance of winning back control of the state senate.  Of six Republicans who were challenged in the recalls, three have so far held onto their seats.

Democrats have apparently  won two seats and are currently leading narrowly in one other.  The 18th District has been called for the Democrats, according to the AP even though the margin is razor thin.

Democrats also picked up a win in the 32nd district where challenger Jennifer Schilling unseated incumbent GOP Senator Dan Kapanke.

The big showdown, however, is the Milwaukee suburbs where incumbent Republican Alberta Darling, is facing a stiff challenge from Rep. Sandy Pasch.

Democrat Pasch had been holding a commanding lead all evening but the gap is now narrowing somewhat.

Democrats must win this seat to take back a one seat majority in the Wisconsin state senate.

The recalls were launched after massive protests this Spring when tens of thousands came out to protest a budget bill backed by Republican Governor Scott Walker that stripped public employee unions of their collective bargaining rights.

Volunteers and a flood of money poured into both sides for Tuesday's election,  An estimated and record-breaking $30 million in donations came in, much of it on the GOP side. Meanwhile, unions mobilized an army of canvassers to support the Democratic candidates.

(9:25 p.m. PDT:  With 79 percent of precincts reporting, Republican Alberta Darling takes a 4 percent lead with a lead of 2500 votes. Officials say vote tallies from that district might be delayed.
