Charges against former head of the International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss-Kahn were officially dropped on Tuesday after a New York appeals court denied a request for a special prosecutor, according to The Daily Beast.

The deny made official a Manhattan judge’s order to drop all criminal charges against the once-leading contender for the French presidency.

On May 14, Strauss-Kahn was accused of criminal sexual assault by a hotel chambermaid.
