Six female American politicians were among those mentioned in the newest Forbes' Most Powerful Women List.

Three cabinet secretaries finished on the list's top 15, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton (no. 2), Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (no. 12) and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (no. 15).

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann was the highest ranked among American female elected officials, coming in on the list at no. 22. Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin finished at no. 34, while former House Speaker and current House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi was 52nd on the list.

Congressional approval has hit another low, according to the latest Associated Press-GfK poll. The poll finds that just 12 percent of American approve of the job congress is doing, while 87 percent disapprove.

Former vice presidential nominee John Edwards wants a judge to dismiss charges against him related to alleged illegal campaign contributions.

According to Reuters:

Edwards, a Democratic who ran unsuccessfully for president in 2004 and 2008, was indicted on six counts of conspiracy, taking illegal contributions and making false statements in a bid to cover up an extramarital affair during the 2008 recent campaign.

His lawyers plan to file motions to dismiss by September 6, citing unspecified irregularities with the grand jury process, questions about the legal theory the charges are based on and defects in the indictment, among other reasons, according to a court filing made on Wednesday.

Edwards' trial is slated to begin in October.

Is Moammar Gaddafi crushing on former Secretary of State Condoleezz, a Rice? That's the question after Libyan rebels discovered a photo album devoted to Rice while ransacking the now-fugitive dictator's compound. "There she is, in one, smiling off to the side, her flip-do accented perfectly for the camera. And there she is in another, smiling next to you-know-who during that visit to Tripoli," wrote The New York Times of Gaddafi's diplo-crush.

And for the record: Gaddafi professed his love for Rice to Al Jazeera back in 2007.
