Besides Lady Gaga’s male alter-ego Jo Calderone, talent was undoubtedly present at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. But like every year, only a couple artists can proudly take away the coveted Moonman.

Britney Spears won the first big award of the night. Her music video “Till the World Ends” was awarded the Best Pop Video award, beating out tough contenders like Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” and Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F).”

Perry was able to take home two Moonmen of her own. One she shared with Kanye West for Best Collaboration on their sci-fi inspired music video “E.T.” The other was the prestigious Video of the Year award, which she won for “Fireworks.” Perry was also the most nominated artist of the night, with a total of nine nominations.

Lady Gaga’s “Born this way” won two awards as well. She took home the Moonman for Best Female Video, and another one for a new category, Best Video With a Message.

Tyler, the Creator, accepted his Moonman for Best New Artist, which he said in his speech that he wanted “since he was nine.” Tyler’s video “Yonkers” won over other artists like Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa, but was also nominated for the Video of the Year award.

Nicki Minaj celebrated her win of Best Hip Hop Video award for “Super Bass” in an interesting way. Minaj joined Taylor Swift at the Staples Center, where Swift had been performing sold out shows for the last four days, to perform her winning song.

And of course, it is not a music award show without the presence of Bieber fever. Justin Bieber won the Best Male Video Award for “You Smile” over other nominees including Eminem’s "Love the Way You Lie," Bruno Mars' "Grenade," Cee Lo Green's "F--- You" and Kanye West's "All of the Lights."

Spears won possibly the most prestigious award of the night to add to her collection, and this one didn’t only come with a Moonman. The Michael Jackson Vanguard Award was presented to Spears by Gaga herself, who paid a dance tribute to Spears and also a kiss.

Other winners included Foo Fighters’ “Walk” for Best Rock Video, Beyonce’s “Run the World (Girls)” for Best Choreography, and Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” for Best Art Direction, Best Editing, and Best Cinematography.

And last but not least, Best Pregnancy News: Beyonce and Jay-Z.
