Thirty journalists remain prisoners within Tripoli’s luxurious Rixos hotel on Tuesday as intense fighting continues to rage on between Libyan rebels and forces loyal to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, according to The New York Times.

Journalists from the BBC, CNN, Reuters and other international news organizations were stuck inside the hotel over the weekend as the fighting escalated, according to the New York Times.

A few armed “Gaddafi men” are preventing journalists from leaving the hotel, which is without electricity and air-conditioning, the report says.

“Running low on food and water,” wrote CNN’s Matthew Chance on his Twitter feed.

The Rixos is one of Tripoli’s premier hotels, and has become a main center for government officials and foreign journalists.
