The rain and wind from Hurricane Irene may be a thing of the past, but her destruction continues.

Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin told CNN the damage was devastating.

"Whole communities under water, businesses, homes, obviously roads and bridges, rail transportation infrastructure. We've lost farmers' crops," he said. "We're tough folks up here but Irene ... really hit us hard."

Some say the storm was over-hyped, however a look at photos of flood damage in the Northeast tells a different story.
