As the summer TV season comes to a close, TV obsessees find themselves eagerly awaiting the start of their favorite series and anticipate the possibility of falling in love with some new crime drama or peppy sitcom.

While viewer favorites are back for new seasons in the coming weeks, here is a look at some of the must-see new shows for fall.

1. "2 Broke Girls" (CBS)

Premiering on Monday, Sept. 19 at 9:30/8:30c, the show follows, as the title tells, two broke girls: Max (the fabulous Kat Dennings), a sassy Brooklyn waitress who also works as a nanny, and her newly employed coworker Caroline (Beth Behrs), an heiress who must start supporting herself after her father is sent to jail.

For fans of: "Sex and the City." "2 Broke Girls" comes from the same executive producers as the HBO hit.

2. "American Horror Story" (FX)

Ryan Murphy, who brought "Nip Tuck" to FX, is coming back to the network as co-creator of this new psychosexual horror mystery series. Dylan McDermott and Connie Britton star as Ben and Vivien Sherman, a couple who comes to Los Angeles for a fresh start only to find their new home haunted by a creepy creature. "American Horror Story" premieres Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 10/9c.

For fans of: "Fringe," "Supernatural," "Nip Tuck," "Damages."

3. "Charlie's Angels" (ABC)

Drew Barrymore and the executive producers of "Smallville" bring you a remake of the 1976 classic series. This miami-set update stars Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh. What's new about this version? These ladies are not your typical angels. They all have criminal pasts and Charlie brings them together to give them a second chance. The show will premiere on the same day the original series debuted 35 years ago: Thursday, Sept. 22 at 8/7c.

For fans of: "24," "Sex and the City." This may seem odd, but executive producer Al Gough has said in multiple interviews: "if Jack Bauer and Carrie Bradshaw had a love child, it would be "Charlie's Angels." Sounds pretty good to me.

4. "New Girl" (FOX)

Zooey Deschanel stars as Jess, a somewhat socially awkward girl who moves in with three bachelors after getting dumped by her boyfriend. Though they only take her in at first because her best friend is a model, they soon come to appreciate her awkwardness and try to help her back on the dating horse. The series premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 9/8c.

For fans of: "Ugly Betty," "No Strings Attached,""500 Days of Summer."

5. "The Playboy Club" (NBC)

Premiering Sunday, Sept. 25 at 10/9c, "The Playboy Club" follows a group of Bunnies (including Amber Heard) and the guys in their lives, namely Nick Dalton (Eddie Cibrian), a shady attorney and club keyholder who comes to Heard's rescue after she accidentally kills a man in self-defense. This series continues the trend of '60s set shows for the season, including "Pan Am" on ABC.

For fans of: "Glee." FYI, this show is musically based.
