Did the widely feared "Carmageddon" weekend in Los Angeles live up to the hype? People in Los Angeles react to the weekend traffic -- or lack thereof.

A 10-mile section of the 405 freeway -- which connects West L.A. to the San Fernando Valley -- was closed for 36 hours from Friday night until Sunday as part of a $1 billion construction project to add a new high-occupancy vehicle lane.

City officials and the media had expected extreme traffic during construction, and encouraged residents to stay at home or leave town for the weekend.

According to the L.A. Times, a different section of the 405 will be closed again in 11 months, when the rest of the Mulholland bridge will be destroyed.
