Want to get out of Los Angeles this weekend, but don't want to sit through the massive traffic delays that are expected to be caused by "carmageddon," the total shutdown of the 405 freeway between the 10 and 101 freeways? JetBlue is offering a cheap alternative to spending what could amount to hours in your car: $4 "carmageddon" flyover flights, between Long Beach and Burbank.

"We're helping Angelenos get over the gridlock altogether and enjoy the Valley or the beach, their favorite soccer match or a food festival, without having to brave the traffic jams to get there," Mark Rogers, JetBlue's L.A. marketing manager, said.

Here are the details:

  • Flights cost $4 each way
  • There will be two departures from Long Beach Airport, at 1:50 p.m. and 7:55 p.m.
  • There will be two departures from Bob Hope Airport in Burbank, at 12:20 p.m. and 6:35 p.m.
  • The deal is only good on Saturday
  • According to the Los Angeles Times, Jet Blue is urging travelers to book their reservations over the phone as they were experiencing some technical difficulties on their website.

For more information, go to Jet Blue's website.

UPDATE: $4 flights are now sold out for both Burbank and Long Beach Airports.
