King of the macabre producer/director Tim Burton ("Corpse Bride," "Beetlejuice") has opened his sketchbook to patrons at the LA County Museum of Art for a special exhibit of his artwork that features over 700 works ranging from his early sketches at art school through more recent works like "Sweeney Todd" and "Alice in Wonderland."

The art ranges from simple sketches and storyboards, to puppets and moving-image works—even a topiary inspired by his film, "Edward Scissorhands." With an entranceway shaped like a monster’s gaping maw, the exhibit is divided into three sections based on Burton’s hometown, “Surviving Burbank,” “Beautifying Burbank,” and “Beyond Burbank.”

Burton even got into the fun on his website, which offers an interactive gallery that can be explored by controlling an adorable, wide-eyed child in a cape wandering between stark hand-sketched rooms containing his work.
