Sarah Palin on Tuesday met up with Donald Trump for a pizza dinner in New York City as she continued her bus tour up the East Coast. Palin and her family were joined by Trump at his wife at Famous Famiglia Pizzeria near Times Square.

The Associated Press reported: "Palin, the former Republican vice presidential nominee, said she and Trump shared similar ideas for improving the U.S. economy, while Trump called Palin a "terrific woman and a terrific friend" whom he hoped would seek the GOP presidential nomination."

Palin, on day three of her northeast bus tour, has remained coy about whether she would seek the Republican nomination in 2012. Trump, who also flirted with a possible GOP presidential bid, announced earlier this month that he would not run.

The House of Representatives late Tuesday overwhelmingly voted against raising the national debt limit. The legislation would have raised the federal government's debt ceiling by roughly $2.4 trillion. The vote was 318-97.

CNN reported: "The vote was scheduled by Republican leaders to show that any attempt to divorce an increase in the debt ceiling from spending reduction efforts -- a move initially favored by the Obama White House -- cannot win congressional approval."

President Obama is scheduled to meet Wednesday with congressional Republicans for more budget negotiations.

New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner is remaining tight-lipped after the mysterious apperance of a lewd photo on his Twitter account over the weekend. In the wake of the Internet "prank" some have dubbed "weinergate," the congressman hired an attorney to look into possible criminial or civil charges.

According to The New York Daily News:

The online soap opera unfolded over the weekend when an obscene photo on Weiner's Twitter page was addressed to Seattle college student Gennette Cordova - but visible to all 40,000 of his followers.

The photo of a man's crotch in tight-fitting underwear was quickly deleted - and Weiner insisted he'd been hacked.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Weiner's political mentor, came to his defense. "I don't know the details. But I know him to be a person of integrity and I am virtually certain he had nothing to do with this," he said.

Wisconsin election officials on Tuesday certified recall elections for three more Republican state senators, bringing the total number of Republicans who face recall elections in that state up to six.

The panel on Tuesday also put off a decision to approve recall elections for three Democrats. The Milawukee Journal Sentinel reported: "That decision by the Government Accountability Board drew cries of partisanship from Republicans and set up the possibility that two sets of recall elections would be held a week apart, rather than all on the same day."

The unprecedented recall attemps are in response to the passage of Gov. Scott Walker's anti-union bill in March. So far, recall elections have been approved for Republican Sens. Rob Cowles of Allouez, Alberta Darling of River Hills, Sheila Harsdorf of River Falls, Randy Hopper of Fond du Lac, Dan Kapanke of LaCrosse and Luther Olsen of Ripon.
