The book festival may be over now until next year, but the festival’s first year at USC was a memorable one. Anna Magzanyan, “LA Times” Vice President of Advertising, Marketing, and Events gave some insight as to how they thought the festival went and what they hope to do next year.

“We felt the attendance was great. The traffic felt strong on Saturday and higher than Sundays in the past. The flow was consistent compared to the clusters we had at UCLA. The festival was full all around,” Magzanyan said.

The “LA Times” team thought the event “went surprisingly great” and felt that “people were excited about the move. There was a real passion and love for USC,” according to Magzanyan.

It was what they had hoped for: lots of business for exhibitor booths, full panels, huge stretching lines for each author’s book signing, and people everywhere exploring and sharing their love of reading and ideas.

Magzanyan points out a few minor changes that the “LA Times” staff wishes to make the following year, mainly adding more branding for concession, including more rest areas, and maybe improving on directional signage.

“Overall, we were very pleased and we’ll be there for the next three years,” Magzanyan said.

So until next year, here are a few more photos from this past weekend’s first "LA Times" Festival of Books at USC to look over in anticipation of nex year.
