While it did not end the world and it did not come precisely on Saturday, as predicted by radio host Harold Camping, an earthquake did hit New Zealand's Kermadec Islands this weekend, according to a USGS report.

Camping, a California preacher, famously predicted that the Apocalypse would begin May 21, starting with a seismic event in the small island country.

The 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck the uninhabited islands on Sunday at 9 a.m., New Zealand time. The islands are about 500 miles northeast of New Zealand's North Island. There have been no reports of tsunamis.
