Rumors have resurfaced from an article in the Wall Street Journal that the Cupertino-based company, Apple, will be setting up shop inside Grand Central Station in New York.

According to sources, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is looking for a tenant to fill a 15,230 square-foot retail space in New York’s historic Grand Central Terminal.

Currently, celebrity chef Charlie Palmer occupies half the space with his Métrazur restaurant, which is scheduled to close on July 1.  Apple would have to buy Mr. Palmer out of his lease, which ends in 2019, so he may close his restaurant on as planned.

If the deal goes through, the Grand Central station store will join the list of iconic Apple Locations such as the Pearl tower in Shangai, the Covent Garden in London and connected to the Lourve in Paris.

In addition, this store will join the 5 other Apple stores in Manhattan including the iconic Fifth avenue, which is open 24 hours a day, has become one of the most prominent locations in the world, bringing in as much as $1 million per day

Already in a league of its own, the new location will also help the iconic Apple brand introduce their new image to 750,000 commuters that pass through Grand Central each day.

The Apple Store 2.0 overhaul, which is being headed by Apple CEO Steve Jobs and device designer Jonathan Ive, will feature iPads in place of traditional paper signs, new sound systems and a new “Startup Session” area that will allow Apple newcomers to learn the ins and outs of the brand while teaching them how to work their Apple devices.

Customers  will be encouraged to try all the products and download Apple’s new initiative, iCloud music service, at one of the highest trafficking places in New York, bringing stiff competition to their competitors.
