Los Angeles commuters travelling through portions of the Westside should expect traffic delays during their rush-hour commute Thursday afternoon as President Obama visits the area to fundraise for his 2012 reelection campaign.

The president is scheduled to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport at 2:45 p.m. this afternoon. He will then head over to the Sony Studios lot in Culver City for a fundraising appearance at 4:30 p.m. After that, it's off to Tavern's restaurant on San Vicente in Brentwood for a private fundraiser.

Obama's previous visits to L.A. caused a major headache for drivers in the area, creating more traffic and longer commutes than normal.

KABC reported: "Obama's visit last August caused gridlock of presidential proportions on the Westside, stretching commutes that would normally take 45 minutes into several hours."

"They are sensitive to our needs, and my hope is the sensitivity will actually mean less gridlock," said Councilman Bill Rosendahl. "But you know, the Westside is gridlocked as it is."

For security reasons, officials have not released the route through which the presidential motorcade will travel or which streets will be blocked off during his visit.

L.A. Observed reported: "The city is advising that the traffic impacts should extend from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m."

Obama will stay overnight in L.A. at an undisclosed hotel. He is scheduled to leave LAX tomorrow morning at 9 a.m.
