L.A. Today: Parking, Air, And More

Gov. Jerry Brown cut back another state perk Tuesday in what seems to be another mostly symbolic act to gain support for his budget proposal. The L.A. Times reports the governor will put a stop to all nonessential travel by state employees. Essential in-state and out-of-state travel will now need varying degrees of approval, the article says.

How’s the air outside? Not very healthy, according to a new report by the American Lung Association. The Daily News says Los Angeles recorded the nation’s worst air quality, although pollution has decreased in recent years. 

The City of L.A. failed to collect $15 million in parking tickets, a new audit by the city controller has found. Several audits have lambasted the city for failure to collect on its debts. Tuesday’s report criticized LADOT for issuing more tickets when repeat offenders’ cars should have been towed or booted, KABC 7 reports.
