Los Angeles is known for its murals, but the city has a longer tradition of bringing out the whitewash and painting them over, says Ed Fuentes in a commentary on KCET.  In the wake of recent events, Fuentes takes a look at the city’s anti-graffiti bureaucracy and how it complicates the creation of art.

  • It appears AEG’s downtown stadium might need county approval as well, the L.A. Times reports. The issue centers around a joint agreement for the L.A. Convention Center, which AEG wants to partially tear down, relocate, and upgrade for its proposed stadium.
  • If there was one unlikely L.A. landmark to write a ballad to, it would the L.A. River.  But LAist has word of a city contest for kids 6-18 to do just that.  Two winners will perform their songs with Ozomatli at the L.A. River Day of Service on April 30.
  • How’s our DWP ratepayer advocate coming? The Daily News reports Council President Eric Garcetti hopes to get the watchdog in place by September, but some are advocating for a slower approach.
