Well that wasn’t pretty. Chris Paul torched the Lakers Sunday, leading the Hornets to a 109-100 victory. Pau Gasol scored a measly 8 points. I'd imagine the team will show up for Game 2 Wednesday at Staples, but I'm not so sure.

  • The Associated Press found an interesting tidbit tucked away in AEG's proposal to build a downtown stadium. Development rights for a 2.4-acre L.A. Live parcel would transfer from the city to the entertainment company. The switch would not occur until 2021 under AEG's current agreement with the city, which was hashed out in 2001, the AP says.
  • The city council committee examining AEG's stadium plans will have its first meeting this morning. You can view the agenda here
  • New LAUSD superintendent John Deasy sat down with the Los Angeles Times Friday and laid out his goals for student performance. Deasy wants graduation rates raised from 55 percent to 70 percent in four years.  The Daily News has a nice look at former LAUSD boss Ramon Cortines’ tenure.
  • Via LAist: Los Angeles is the top-rated sports city according to The Ultimate Sports List. And that’s without an NFL team, thank you very much.
