This summer may be tough for surfers or those who enjoy an early morning jaunt on the beach.  Because of budget cuts, some seaside public restrooms may not open until 11 am, the L.A. Times reports. Others may be closed entirely on certain days.

In addition, the L.A. County press release adds that “other beach services such as weed abatement, landscaping, large debris cleanup, parking lot/stairway/embankment cleaning, volleyball net replacement, etc. will be performed when daily staffing levels allow.”

Ouch. Please, can somebody fix the budget, now.

  • CicLAvia is back. The event will be held Sunday from 10 am- 3 pm. The carless route will be the same as before: East Hollywood to Boyle Heights.
  • After a day-long standoff Monday, the gunman who shot an LAPD officer then holed up inside his Sylmar home has been found dead, the L.A. Times reported. A rifle was found by the gunman’s body. The officer, Steve Jenkins, is in critical but stable condition.
  • Thanks to LAist for the heads up: President Barack Obama will be in L.A. April 21 for some fundraising.  That means traffic and lots of it.
