City officials in Los Angeles, a city known for its murals, apparently could not live with one more. The L.A. Times has the story of a Valley Village woman who was forced to paint over a mural she had commissioned on her wall.

  • LAist provides a round up of some good news for Angelenos: Apparently the rent is not too damn high. (Or at least won’t be as outrageous.)  According to the 2011 Casden Multifamily Forecast, rents will likely drop 3.2 percent between now and the end of next year. Of course that also means the economy has been slow to recover.
  • Via the City Maven: Councilwoman Jan Perry is asking DWP officials to come before council and explain their roughly $440 million in cuts.
  • And in the wake of the tragic beating of a Giants fan, the Dodgers have hired William Bratton, former L.A. police chief, to asses security at the ravine, ABC 7 says.
