Kim Kardashian Furious Over Cover Photo in Turkish Cosmo

Kim Kardashian appeared on the cover of the Turkish version of Cosmo magazine…but she’s Armenian.

As an Armenian-American who is very outspoken about the genocide the Armenians suffered at the hands of the Turks, Kardashian was outraged to hear that her image had been used by Turkey’s Cosmo without her consent, she told media outlets.

On April 24, the Armenians will commemorate those lost in the genocide, literally only weeks after Kim appeared on Turkey’s Cosmo.

Kim’s reps had been given a list of which international Cosmo outlets would use her image, which was taken at an international photo shoot she did for the magazine, but the magazine never mentioned that she would appear on the cover in Turkey.

Kim says she would never have allowed her photo to be used in the Turkish version if she had known what Cosmo was planning to do.

Not only is Kim upset, but also her pal and famous lawyer, Mark Geragos, is livid.

The Armenian criminal defense attorney, who has represented many celebrities on trial such as Michael Jackson, Winona Ryder Scott Peterson, and Chris Brown, is known for speaking out frequently in the Armenian-American community.

Geragos told TMZ that this is yet another way the Turks are rubbing salt in the wounds of the Armenian people.

Geragos cited this as another example of the Turks’ “campaign,” where they appropriate Los Angeles celebrities to sell Turkish products. The first example of this was when the country used Kobe Bryant in an advertisement to promote Turkish Airlines.

But their newest offense, to him, is having Kim appear on Turkish Cosmo.

As he told TMZ, “anyone who has synapses firing would never do such a thing.”

And now the saga continues as the Armenian National Committee of America’s executive director, Aram Hamparian, told TMZ today that “it’s disrespectful to Kim Kardashian and to all Armenians for the publishers of Cosmopolitan to use her image, without her permission, on the month we mark Turkey's genocide against the Armenian people.”

Hamparian said that instead of featuring a descendant of Armenian Genocide survivors on its April cover that “Cosmopolitan should find creative ways to educate its readers about the Turkish government's shameful effort to cover up this atrocity.”
