She was imprisoned for three days immediately after storming a hotel in Tripoli, the Libyan capital, to recount her tale of abuse to the foreign journalists housed there on March 26, according to multiple accounts.

During that imprisonment, her captors physically and psychologically mistreated her, according to her reports to the press.

"They destroyed my reputation," she told CNN over the phone, referring to the government's allegations that she was mentally ill and drunk after she recounted her story to journalists.  "They did not give me a chance to respond," she said.

Since her release, police have followed her around and threaten to press criminal charges, she says.  Police have also threatened to go after her sister and 6-year-old nephew, she told reporters.

"I wan to return to my family in Benghazi but they are refusing for me to return to my family, she told an Arabic-language television reporter during a phone interview in Arabic.  "I don't know why."

Benghazi is the rebel stronghold, in the east of the country  Her father told CNN that he has not spoken with her since Wednesday.

CNN is advertising that they will air an interview with her on Monday night's Anderson Cooper's "AC360" program.
