Bradley Manning, the alleged leaker of thousands of classified military files, is being transferred from a military base in Quantico, Virginia to military prison in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas because of "international condemnation of his treatment."

According to Associated Press sources, the official announcement is expected Wednesday. A whole movement has erupted to have Manning freed from indefinite detetion for allegedly leaking files to Julian Assange and his WikiLeaks operation.

Salon's Glenn Grenwald reported last year that Manning was being held in deplorable conditions. The military has general defended its actions, especially since State Department spokesman Jay Carney was fired for criticizing Manning's detention.
