In the wake of Japan's 9.0 earthquake, a white UCLA student posted a YouTube rant on Asians, ridiculing them because they disturbed her while she studied for finals in the library.

"Ohh, ching chong ling long ting tong," said Alexandra Wallace, giving her impression on Asians who received and made phone calls in the library every "15 minutes" to and from friends and family concerned about people in Japan's earthquake/tsunami while she was immersed in her "political science theories."

She also spoke about "these hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every year" and went on to describe how every weekend, "you will always see old Asian people running around this apartment complex...that's what they do, they don't teach their kids to fend for themselves."

UCLA Chancellor Gene Block called the video thoughtless, and university officials are still deciding if Wallace violated any student code of conduct.

Wallace, who has received numerous death threats, took down her post and issued this apology to the The Daily Bruin.  Her video continues, however, to be reposted virally on YouTube.

I kind of agree with her, I have family that is in Japan and it is natural for people to want to call their family members when you hear of such a disaster, but she is right. Who goes to the library to call their family that is half way around the world?? I wouldn't go to the movie theater and in the middle of a movie realize "hey my cousin lives in an area that was just hit by a tornado, I better call them right now" No, I would get up and leave the quiet area, to go make my personal phone call. I don't think she should get kicked out of school for that video.

I'm not gonna get all angry over this, but what she did was very rude. She needs to get a grip, get over it, and go somewhere else quiet if she's just gonna complain about people concerning over their family.

Basically she has a rant about the noise level in the library and that perfectly fine, but she should have stopped right there. I draw the line when she went off base to disrespect the tsunami victims in Japan, and her personnel opinion about Asians. It's rather humorous to hear her speak about how well she was raised by her mom, speaking highly of herself and thumbing down the Asians. Whatever her arguement, she didn't back it up well to support her displeasure of Asian people and she typecast herself as one ignorant blond.

I hope racist behaviors is against UCLA's student code of conduct.

Alexandra talks about American manners. But even though I was born and raised in America I was still taught that part of good manners is to be thoughtful and courteous of others. Granted the people should have taken their calls outside the Library, but if the tables were turned and there was a trmendous earthquake and tsunami that hit Californis would you not be concerned about your family too? I think you should think about what you said and the way you said it and have a little more empathy for those who may have lost their loved ones in an earthquake so powerful that it set the earth off it's axis and sent tsunami waves all the way to California. Be careful what you say - you might be in thier shoes one day then how would you fell if someone ranted on about how rude these people are and how dare they interrupt your studies. Get a heart and some feelings before you spout off about other people. Put yourself in their place. In my opinion you are the rude one!!!

Because this dumb blonde's studies is MORE important than 10000 missing/dead victims in japan -.-" I don't care if she's trying to be funny, there is a time to joke and there are better ways of expressing your feelings than ranting and posting it up on YouTube. She deserves everything she's getting. How would you feel if someone you loved may be missing or dead?? Go get some compassion and think before you act!
