The famously dynamic James Franco has once again taken on another project, and once again, it is unrelated to his acting career.

After attending UCLA for undergraduate school, Columbia University for graduate school, and enrolling in Yale University to receive his Ph.D. all in the past five years, as well as writing his own novel and launching his own art exhibition in Berlin, Franco has become notorious for his achievements outside of Hollywood. 

So what’s new for this education enthusiast? Logically, the next step is teaching! A spokesperson from New York University recently confirmed that Franco has accepted a position as a graduate instructor in directing at NYU’s Karbar Institute of Film and Television, which he will start in Fall 2011. 

Although his resume is more than impressive, Franco is certainly not the first Hollywood entertainer to accomplish great things beyond the realm of acting. 

In the spirit of James Franco’s versatility let’s take a look at the Top Ten examples of celebrities doing more than just being celebrities (other than the near superhuman Franco): 

10. Emma Watson: Best known for her role as Hermoine in the 'Harry Potter' series and for her modeling campaign for Burberry, Watson decided to shift her focus to education and enrolled at Brown University in 2009. 

9. Grace Kelly: This Academy Award winning American actress became Princess of Monaco in April 1956. Despite what some stars might like to believe, European Royalty is a pretty far cry from Hollywood.

8. Tom Cruise: He acts, he jumps on couches, he's chief executive of a film studio, and he supports the Church of Scientology. This agenda clearly reflects a wide range of interests for Cruise, but here's the question: which persona is he best known for? 

7. Angelina Jolie: Perhaps just as well known for her multiple international adoptions as she is for her acting talent, Jolie's humanitarian efforts have earned her the support and respect of an ever-growing fan base. 

6.  Elizabeth Taylor: The recently deceased screen queen famously advocated for the fight against the HIV/AIDs epidemic, devoting much of her life to this cause. 

5. Justin Timberlake: Timberlake went from Mousekateer to 90s Boy Band popstar to refined solo artist in quite a hurry. Now, Timberlake is also well-known for his acting and comedic talents, and owns two restaurants. Timberlake also works with the fashion label, 'William Rast', and the record label, 'Tennman Records'. 

4. Tom Hanks: Best known for his role as the lovable Forrest Gump, Hanks has taken on a wide variety of projects aside from his flourishing acting career. He is a member of the National Space Society, serves as a very active and outspoken supporter of environmental causes and same sex marriage, and has given many commencement addresses at universities across the nation. 

3. Arnold Schwarzenegger: From The Terminator to The Governator--this one's pretty self explanatory.

2. Bono: The irish frontman of band, U2, has had far too many philanthropic endeavors to list. Just to name a few, Bono has campaigned avidly for third-world debt relief, is constantly performing benefit concerts, and is a strong supporter of the fight against HIV/AIDS. 

1. Oprah Winfrey: It started with her own talk show, and then her own magazine, and now Oprah even has her own television network. Even more impressive than her many achievements in entertainment are Oprah's humanitarian efforts such as building schools for girls in third world Africa, and her creation of Oprah's Angel Network in 1998, just to name a few. Oprah has also been cited as an important spiritual leader and was at one point the world's only African-American billionaire.
