The series finale of Teen Mom 2 brought on the drama with Jenelle’s arrest, Kailyn and Jo’s mediation, and Adam’s outburst.

Leah and Cory’s unbearably cute wedding was a nice break from the other hostile domestic disputes.

At the beginning of the finale special, Kailyn and Jo seem to be civil, but emotions run high at the end of the episode after the ex-couple goes to mediation regarding custody of their son, Issac.

Chelsea celebrates Aubree’s first birthday with a leopard print birthday party. But the sweet celebrations turn sour when Adam shows up at Chelsea’s house, rudely demanding his truck back, which Chelsea’s dad had towed. After this outburst, Chelsea finally realizes that she doesn’t need Adam. Thank goodness, it was about time!

Jenelle spends the night in jail after being arrested for breaking and entering and possession of marijuana. She and boyfriend, Keiffer, stayed in their friend’s beach house even when they were specifically told they were not welcome anymore. Keiffer left Jenelle in the house alone, but police found him too.

This conflict inspires Jenelle to change for her son, Jace. But this scenario is all too familiar. At this point, watching her is just tiring. She repeats the cycle of irresponsibility to an annoyingly redundant end. She goes home and has an emotional exchange with her mom, ending in a hug. But who knows if this ten thousandth apology session will change anything

The episode ends with Jenelle bailing Keiffer out of jail for $2,000 even after her mother told her to not see Keiffer again. No surprise there. Hopefully Jenelle will shape up in season 2, because her antics are seriously old.

Leah and Cory get married in a beautiful and emotional wedding. In a truly precious moment, Cory cries as Leah walks down the aisle. It seems that they married out of true love rather than out of obligation because of their twin girls. Their strength through their daughter Ali’s mysterious medical condition proves they could survive anything.

This season was tame compared to the original Teen Mom series. Through Caitlyn and Tyler’s emotional recovery over Carly’s adoption, Macy’s rough breakup and custody disputes with Ryan, Farrah’s domestic dispute with her mom and overcoming the death of her baby daddy, and Amber’s physical debacle with Gary… we saw a dramatic season.

Looking back, the first season of Teen Mom 2 was slightly mundane. Chelsea desperately clung to Adam despite the evil text message he sent in Chelsea’s “16 and Pregnant” episode, in which he said he regretted their whole relationship and that their daughter Aubree was a “mistake.” Viewers spent this season watching Chelsea put up with Adam’s nasty behavior. She even let him move in with her! Thankfully, she’s decided to move on.

Jenelle’s baby daddy failed to make any appearance this season. She moved on to the quiet, lazy, and unmotivated Keiffer who didn’t have anything important to say or do the whole season. Jenelle’s irresponsibility got incredibly old. She stole her mom’s credit card, took Jace out of the house in her mom’s car even when it was against the child custody agreement, and finally, during the finale episode, she was thrown in jail.

“Jenelle is a seriously misguided girl,” says Colleen Fairbrother, a Teen Mom 2 fan. “Her mother's constant yelling and condescending nature does not help her succeed…however, I do believe that Jenelle needs to seriously take some responsibility and grow up- ditch the BF and go to school.”

Leah and Cory are comparable to Caitlyn and Tyler from “Teen Mom.” They come from nice families, have a good sense of reality, and it seems that they truly love each other. Their story line was emotional, but refreshing to watch. They struggled with questions about Ali’s development problems, yet they pulled together, allowing the situation to make them stronger. Despite getting pregnant after only three months of dating, they managed to stick together out of growing love, not obligation.

Kailyn’s story was the most uninteresting. She inappropriately jumped back into the dating world while still living in Jo’s house. The constant conflict between her and Jo makes it hard for the audience to imagine they were ever in a good relationship. If there’s anything Teen Mom and Teen Mom 2 teaches an audience, it’s that relationships change after teen pregnancy.

Overall, this season was forgettable, but the slow lead up was worth the dramatic finale.

Look out for the new season of 16 and Pregnant airing April 19th at 10/9c.
