Metro's latest round of community update meetings for the extension of the Purple Line subway to Westwood begins Monday night.

Metro is continuing to work on the final environmental impact review for the project. This is the last phase of the project where community input is considered. At these meetings, officials from the Metro will provide feedback from the January community meetings, updates on geotechnical investigations and the latest information on the highly-debated Century City station. 

The meeting will include a presentation followed by an opportunity for public input. 

If you look at the proposed map for the $5 billion Westside Subway extension you may be wondering why some of the stations have multiple subway stops? These are just options for each of the stops. At the moment, the biggest controversy has to do with the Century City station stop. One alignment would run the subway tunnel under Beverly Hills High School, an option that the Beverly Hills School District strongly opposes. 

Metro claims that this alignment will allow them to place the Century City station at a busy spot, compared to a low-density area next to the Los Angeles Country Club. On the other hand, the other option is to run the subway along an earthquake fault along Santa Monica Blvd. 

This meeting will be interesting to see the updates on this and other debating options that will be presented.
