Pac-10 Tournament Seeding Scenarios

There’s just one day left of Pac-10 men’s basketball action before the conference tournament starts Wednesday at Staples Center.

All ten teams play this Saturday with the top eight each having a final chance to make a move in the regular season standings. Many different scenarios exist as to how they will be seeded come next week.

One of the few things we know for certain is that Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State, and Arizona State will be playing in the first round on Wednesday. The six other teams have all earned a bye to Thursday.

Here are the seeding scenarios:

Bye teams

Arizona
#1 seed with win or UCLA loss
#2 seed with loss AND UCLA win

UCLA
#1 seed with win and Arizona loss
#2 seed with win or Washington loss
#3 seed with loss and Washington win

Washington
#2 seed with win and UCLA loss
#3 seed in all other scenarios

USC
#4 seed with win
#5 seed with loss, Cal win, and WSU loss OR USC loss, Cal loss, and WSU win
#6 seed with loss, Cal win, and WSU win

Washington State
#4 seed with win and USC loss
#5 seed with win and USC win OR loss, Cal win, and USC win
#6 seed with loss

California
#4 seed with win, USC loss, and WSU loss
#5 seed with loss and WSU loss OR win, USC loss, and WSU win OR win, USC win, and WSU loss
#6 seed with loss and WSU win OR win, USC win, and Cal win

First-round teams

Stanford
#7 seed with win and Oregon loss OR Oregon loss and Cal finishes with a higher seed than USC
#8 seed in all other scenarios

Oregon
#7 seed with win OR Stanford loss and USC finishes with a higher seed than Cal

Guaranteed #9 seed
