Jennifer Lawrence has been announced as the hard-headed, female powerhouse Katniss from the popular "Hunger Games" trilogy. Still fresh off the red carpet for the 83rd Academy Awards for her nomination as Best Actress in "Winter's Bone," Lawrence already has what it takes to not only pull off, but embody Katniss from the Hunger Games. 

With Entertainment Weekly, Jennifer claimed "I've never shot a bow and arrow." Yet, it is safe to say, Jennifer will pick it up, having already learned how to skin a squirrel for her role in "Winter's Bone."

Newly released shots of Adrianne Palicki as "Wonder Woman" have caused a stir within the fan base and inside boys' trousers. Especially as the classic female heroine, Wonder Woman has her very own check list.

Director David Kelley stated, "She’s got to be strong, smart, emotionally accessible — and oh yeah, an Amazon!" Just looks does not make the cut anymore as our definition of a woman changes. Whether it is Sigourney Weaver's alien butt-kicking role as Ripley or Britney Spears, women in entertainment have to constantly define and redefine their roles. 

Hollywood is not satisfied anymore with just a good-looking face and a nice "package." As females are rising to the top, expectations are as well. Not only do girls have to be concerned with if their cleavage is visible enough, but also have to undertake the traditional roles of our male counterparts. Yet, when have we not?

Let's face it: Girls rule.
