Yemen Protests Of 20,000 People Face Pro-Government Supporters Too

About 20,000 people divided on their exact call for action, but in agreement about their disgust for the regime President Ali Abdullah Saleh flocked to the streets of Sanaa on Thursday in a “Day of Rage.”

The protestors were adjacent to hundreds of supporters of Saleh, though their face-off wasn't marked with the disturbing violence that rocked Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday as tens of thousands of anti-government protestors clashed with thousands of people chanting in support of President Hosni Mubarak.

Some of the protestors want Saleh to step down immediately rather than when his term expires in 2013. Others believe he can stay in office for the time being to maintain stability, but he has to do something else to ensure that he will follow-through on his promise to step down.

The protests are not unlike those expected in the coming days in Jordan and Syria.
