Edison High (Huntington Beach, Calif.) standout Charles Burks signed with the Trojans Wednesday morning, the school confirmed. He faxed his Letter of Intent from Huntington Beach's Sugar Shack this morning.

Burke has always played defensive end, but USC projects him to play linebacker, according to linebackers coach Joe Barry. The 6-foot-1, 230 pounder is ranked as a three-star defensive end by Rivals, Scout and ESPN. He was named the Defensive Lineman of the Year of Orange County's Sunset League for the second time.

But with his ability to get to the quarterback, Burks could become a blitzing weapon as an outside linebacker for defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin.

Burks committed to the Trojans in October and never wavered on his decision.
