Erique Florence, one of the top safety prospects in the country, announced early Wednesday morning he will be staying in-state and attending Auburn University.

Florence, a 6-foot-2, 185 pounder from Valley High (Valley, Ala.) chose the Tigers over USC live on ESPNU.

Florence was expected to play right away at USC, and even compete for the starting safety position as a true freshman. However, he chose to stay close to home.

ESPN, Rivals and Scout each list him as a four-star recruit. ESPN ranked him as the No. 4 safety, and No. 52 overall prospect in the ESPNU 150. Rivals has Florence as the No. 3 safety, and Scout ranks him at No. 5.
