Shirley Sherrod's career was sidelined in July of last year after conservative blogger Andrew Breitbart posted part of a speech the former USDA official had given to the NAACP.

The clips he put online appeared to show Sherrod, who is black, describing herself discriminating against a white farmer as part of her duties.  The White House quickly called for her resignation, then reversed course after the full text of Sherrod's speech was revealed.

Now, Sherrod is suing Breitbart, saying he "damaged her reputation and prevented her from continuing her work."

The suit seeks compensatory and punitive damages from Breitbart and two of his colleagues.  Breitbart said he "categorically rejects the transparent effort to chill his constitutionally protected free speech."
