LeBron James still irks Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
LeBron James still irks Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.
The juiciest off-field sports stories of the week, courtesy of Neon Tommy's own Madison Besser:

1. The highly publicized “Decision” staged by Lebron James sent many people kicking and screaming, including Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert. Gilbert wrote a lengthy letter claiming the Cavs would win a world championship before Lebron does. Now his hate for LBJ is coming out again.

Gilbert owns the company Fathead, which produces life-size wall stickers. As Terez Owens points out, the latest Miami Heat team set features only two of the Big Three. The self-proclaimed king will not be taking his talents to a wall near you anytime soon.

Who says men don’t hold grudges?

2. Whether it’s on HBO’s 24/7 series or tweeted pictures of receipts from his bets, it’s always about money with Floyd Mayweather. When “Pretty Boy” Floyd bets, he usually puts a lot on the line. His latest wager was for $100,000 on the first half of the Orlando Magic-Miami Heat game. With the Magic favored by half a point, they led 58-54 at the break, which netted Floyd a hefty sum of 90 grand.

Maybe the reason Floyd’s ducking Manny Pacquaio is because he’s winning big at the sports book. After all, they don’t call him “Money” Mayweather for nothing.

3. According to the New York Daily News, Spurs point guard Tony Parker and his wife Eva Longoria are officially divorced. After meeting back in 2004, Tony and Eva tied the knot in 2007 in a lavish European ceremony. Longoria and Parker both filed for divorce after rumors surfaced about Tony carrying on an affair with Brent Barry’s wife.

4. Many Angelenos don’t need extra reason to dislike Celtics star forward Kevin Garnett. Mainstream media members added fuel to the fire when they tweeted during the Lakers-Celtics game that one of the Lakers ball boys asked The Big Ticket for an autograph. KG replied, “You’ve got a better chance of catching Bin Laden.” I guess someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning.

5. USC’s own Lane Kiffin was spotted earlier this week meeting with Tennessee Titans officials in Nashville, according to YardBarker. The Titans’ head coaching vacancy is open after they parted ways with USC alum Jeff Fisher, but Kiffin will not be returning to the NFL next year. Kiffin is in the middle of a lawsuit (http://www.neontommy.com/news/2010/07/pola-lawsuit-couldnt-have-come-wor...) with the Titans over the hiring of current offensive coordinator Kennedy Pola. Besides, Lane looks better in Cardinal and Gold than he does in Titans colors.

A special thank you to Jake Rosenblatt for his help with this piece.
