The veteran singer-songwriter and Louisiana native dropped her first album in 1978, and has been stunning audiences with her folk sound and soulful lyrics ever since. 

Her breakout album, entitled "Car Wheels On a Gravel Road," was recorded and released in 1998.  Williams created a sound that, from then on, was distinctly hers, fusing a collection of blues, country, folk and rock into a sound audiences just couldn’t seem to get enough of.  Fans will be happy to know that both her songwriting and musical talent shine bright once again in "Blessed." 

Even the title of her new album has personal and emotional significance.  With the death of her mother and her experience in past abusive relationships, Williams can attest to the fact that sometimes life really does get you down. 

 Her latest collection of songs is a testament to her new life and her happy relationship with her new husband.

"Blessed" starts off with the slow rock-heavy tune “Buttercup”, which is already available for digital download.  It then transitions to the more soulful blues infused “Born to Be Loved” that digs down to her Southern roots.

The album takes a more somber turn as Williams sings of suicide in the hard-driving “Seeing Black” with some impressive guitar harmonies from Elvis Costello.  “Soldier’s Song” serves as a powerful reminder of those fighting for our country overseas, as Williams tells the story of a wife and child left at home. 

Soft melodious vocals fill the air as Williams sings her beautiful ballad “Kiss Like Your Kiss”, which was nominated for a Grammy Award for “Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media”.

Lucinda Williams pours her heart and soul once again into her work, just as she did in her previous albums "Essence" and "Little Honey," and it is clear that she is not slowing down anytime soon.
