In a surprising move, Rep. Jane Harman will resign from Congress to head the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, the L.A. Times reports. The Los Angeles-area Democrat has been elected to nine terms.

After asking readers what a new L.A. football team should be named, most simply wanted the Rams to move back after 16 seasons in Saint Louis. Other worthy mentions: Los Angeles Knights, Los Angeles Sharks and Los Angeles Conquistadors.

L.A. city leaders have been enthusiastic about AEG’s downtown stadium proposal, but Steve Lopez found Angelenos to be a bit chillier when presented with specific details on how the stadium would be financed, tactics which include city-issued bonds and cheap rent for AEG.

In other NFL news, Orange County churches and NFL players took aim Sunday at one of the San Fernando Valley’s biggest exports: porn.

The O.C. Register reports that the former O.C. youth leader, who spearheaded the anti-porn campaign, had this advise to porn addicts: “Confess to God, confess to somebody else, and clean it up.”

In an increasingly bitter campaign, a campaign consultant for Councilman Jose Huizar was fired Sunday, the Times reports, for promising to “put a political bullet” in the head of Huizar’s opponent, Rudy Martinez.

The City Maven also has a few interesting tidbits from the email.
