A panel tasked with judging AEG’s downtown stadium has several members with ties to the mega-developer. But don’t worry says First Deputy Mayor and co-chair Austin Beutner. The L.A. Times has the story here.

  • LAist talks with Councilman Herb Wesson in the lead up to the March 8 elections.
  • In addition to Wesson, Council members LaBonge, Huizar, Krekorian, Cardenas and Parks are hoping to retain their seats. Councilman Greig Smith is retiring, and his chief of staff Mitch Englander is looking to replace his boss.
  • In a very eery story, USC transplanted a kidney into the wrong person, the L.A. Times reports. Kidney transplants could resume today after being halted last month.
  • Banksy, the prolific street artist, appears to have arrived in Los Angeles. Take a look at his website, which features pieces that have popped up around the city, including a billboard tag that CBS Outdoor quickly squashed. Media outlets have wondered if the art is part of an Oscar campaign for the artist’s documentary: “Exit Through the Gift Shop.”
