King Abdullah of Jordan has dismissed his country's current government in order to form a new one, Jordanian officials said Tuesday.

Jordanians took to the streets to protest Prime Minister Samir Rifai in the wake of turmoil and revolution in Tunisia and Egypt. Rifai has been widely blamed by many for a decrease in political reform and recent increases in food and fuel prices.

The Associated Press is reporting that King Abdullah has nominated Marouf al-Bakhit as the next Prime Minister.
