Highly ranked defensive tackle Delvon Simmons of McKeesport, Penn. announced he would be signing with the University of North Carolina Wednesday morning.

The 6-foot-4, 265 pounder, who prepped at McKeesport High, took an official visit to USC this past weekend.

However, the trip to Los Angeles wasn't enough to convince Simmons. He was believed to be down to the Trojans and Oregon, but chose North Carolina instead.

Scout lists Simmons as a five-star recruit, while ESPN and Rivals both rank him as a 4-star. Positionally, he is ranked No. 3 by Scout, No. 5 by Rivals and No. 25 by ESPN.

In addition to UNC, USC and Oregon, Simmons was considering Pittsburgh and Texas Tech.
