Update: Heyward's signing has been confirmed by USC.

Defensive lineman Christian Heyward chose to sign with USC early Wednesday morning, announcing his decision live on San Diego's  KUSI-TV.

The 6-foot-2, 270 pounder from Point Loma High in San Diego was also considering Oregon and San Diego State.

Heyward is listed as a four-star recruit by ESPN, Scout and Rivals. He is listed on ESPNU's top 150 and is listed as high as the No. 6 defensive tackle in the country, by Rivals.

He also started at tight end for Point Loma, but said he would play either defensive end or three-technique defensive tackle.
