The list of celebrities checking in and out of rehab the past few months continues to grow. Each star’s reasons, explanations and methods for treatment have been scrutinized all across the entertainment media. With many of these stars out of rehab, at least for now, it’s time to see which star has what it takes to stay sober and stay out of trouble.

Lindsay Lohan

It’s the story that will never end. We first met Lohan in “The Parent Trap,” “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday.” The child star quickly entered the club scene andgot out of control quickly. Between probation violations, failed drug tests, time in jail and now accusations of stealing, many believe Lohan won’t last long sober. I may be in the minority, but this star can still make a comeback for the record books. The old Lindsay would have already given a tell-all interview about her rehab experience and would have already posted Twitter statuses trashing her father. Granted, she is still hanging out with rumored ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson. Nonetheless, Lohan may surprise us all and if we want to admit it or not, she does have talent. Let’s hope her parents can stay away from the media and Lohan can spend Friday and Saturday nights home, instead of the clubs.

David Arquette

The past couple of months for Arquette have been a struggle. First came the surprise separation of him and wife Courteney Cox. Soon after, Arquette went on the “Howard Stern Show” and shared more than he ever needed to. He continued to lose any sympathy as he was shown partying night after night with young women. After checking into rehab for alcohol, Arquette left after one month. Cox infers she would consider taking him back if she didn’t have to mother him. This Thursday, we will learn more as Arquette makes his first post-rehab interview with Oprah Winfrey. It appears that the ball is in Arquette’s court. If he continues to shape up, his career and marriage could be saved and the meltdown will be forgotten.

Demi Lovato

This story should have received much more media coverage than it did. A Disney star getting physical with another teenage female dancer seems like the perfect gossip piece for tabloids. Somehow, Lovato and her team kept the coverage to a minimum. Immediately after the incident that left a female dancer injured, Lovato checked into an unnamed clinic for “emotional and physical issues.” Unlike many Hollywood stars, Lovato checked in not from public pressure, (we didn’t know yet what went on) but for real, personal concerns (the star has admitted in the past to being bullied and having body-image issues). After a longer than expected stint in rehab, Lovato settled with the dancer and is now recording music for an upcoming album. The future of “Sonny With a Chance” is still unknown.

Charlie Sheen

How does Sheen do it? The star continues to get in trouble outside of work but still manages to keep his over one million dollars an episode salary. In his defense, the staff at “Two and a Half Men” say the star has always come to work professional and healthy. Nonetheless, when Sheen checked into rehab this month, it was a relief to many fans and followers of his continued destructive behavior. As of now, Sheen claims he does not have a problem and rehab at home is all he needs. Who knew rehab could be offered at your own home with the same temptations that got you into trouble? Sheen isn’t serious about being healthy and why should he? Sheen is making millions, viewers don’t seem to care, and his show’s ratings are through the roof. If his mindset doesn’t change, something new will eventually happen and make front-page news once again.

Jesse James

What is there to say? James looked so bad publicly after his separation from America’s sweetheart Sandra Bullock; he thought it would make a difference if he checked into rehab. Well after a short stint, he began dating Kat Von D and is now engaged to the tattoo artist. James may be happy, but America is much happier for Bullock who is single and loving being a single mom to adoptive son, Louis.
