Millions of movie fans around the world will gather to watch thebroadcast live on ABC this Sunday at 8 p.m. on the east coast, 5 p.m. on the west coast. This year’s show promises to bring the biggest names in the movie industry together to honor the most successful films of the past year.

Compared to previous shows, Oscar producers have chosen an actor and an actress to host instead of the usual comedian (remember Billy Crystal, Steve Martin, Alec Baldwin and Ellen DeGeneres?). Anne Hathaway and James Franco, both young, first-time hosts are the surprising hosts. In a recent interview, producers warned viewers to expect a shorter opening with just some jokes, music and dancing instead of a long, stand-up monologue that has proven to be a hit or miss in the past.

Leading the way with the most nominations is “The King’s Speech” with 12 including Best Picture and Colin Firth for Best Actor. “True Grit” has 10 nominations with Jeff Bridges up for Best Actor and 14 year old Hailee Steinfeld nominated for Best Supporting Actress. “Inception,” “The Fighter” and “The Social Network also have at least 7 nominations each including Best Picture.

An important segment returning after being absent last year is the nominated song performances. Randy Newman will perform his song from “Toy Story 3” while Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi will perform a duet from the movie “Tangled.” In addition, newcomer Gwyneth Paltrow will sing a song from “Country Strong.” Finally, Florence Welch from Florence + the Machine will replace Dido in a performance seen in the movie, “127 Hours.”

Before the show, numerous networks will broadcast live from the red carpet. One hour before show-time, Robin Roberts, Tim Gunn, Maria Menounos and Krista Smith will host ABC’s  “Oscar’s Red Carpet Live.” E! Entertainment, with Ryan Seacrest, and TV Guide, with Chris Harrison, both will begin their live coverage from the red carpet two hours before show-time.

Finally, for those not interested in the biggest movies this season, there are plenty of stars to look for on the carpet or on stage presenting. Oprah Winfrey, Sandra Bullock, Reese Witherspoon and Matthew McConaughey are just some of the presenters confirmed for Sunday’s show.
