Weekly Wonderings from the sports mind of Michael Green...

• New England quarterback Tom Brady underwent successful foot surgery this week with Rex Ryan generously donating his time to oversee the procedure.

• The Minnesota Metrodome roof will reportedly take five to six months to fix. The effort to repair Brett Favre’s reputation, however, still has no timeline.

• The Minnesota Twins re-signed Carl Pavano to a two-year, $16.5 million deal, securing the dirtiest porn star mustache in the league through 2012.

• Rumors that Sidney Crosby may protest the NHL All-Star Game were recently squashed. Meanwhile, the United States’ boycott of hockey grows stronger by the day.

• Kobe Bryant will become the first athlete to have his hand and foot print immortalized in Hollywood, however, he will not be the first to attempt such a feat. Shaq’s previous effort resulted in the formation of the La Brea Tar Pits.

• Blake Griffin’s 47-point performance against Indiana opened a lot of eyes in Los Angeles. Those eyes quickly shifted back to the Lakers game after about five seconds.

• Former starting quarterback Tate Forcier recently tweeted that he will be leaving Michigan after a disappointing season. His two followers were mildly disappointed by the news.

• Larry Brown was a guest at Villanova’s practice this Thursday. He was asked to leave after several hours of telling stories about how players in his day used to practice with peach baskets.

• Tiger Woods will officially begin his season at Torrey Pines in San Diego. Woods has not played at Torrey Pines since winning a playoff against Rocco Mediate in 2008…And that is exactly how long it’s been since Mediate was last mentioned in a sports column.

• Andy Roddick came back after a slow start against Robin Haase to advance to the next round of the Australian Open. Roddick’s inspiration for the comeback came after Haase called him Seann William Scott’s less successful younger brother.

• Wayne Gretzky plans to celebrate his 50th birthday by making Vince Vaughn's head bleed.

• Congratulations to the AC United 14U Anderson Youth Soccer League team for advancing to the semifinals of the California Youth Soccer Association Cup!
