President Obama will examine gun control soon, said top White House aide David Plouffe Tuesday night.

Some have said Obama should have addressed the issue in his State of the Union address. But Plouffe argued that it wasn't the proper venue to talk about the heated topic, which has come to the political forefront after the shootings in Tucson that left six dead.

Politico reports:

NBC anchor Brian Williams, who was questioning Plouffe, said White House officials told him earlier Tuesday that Obama was planning to discuss guns, but at a “different venue, different speech, later date.”

Guns, Plouffe said, are “a very important issue and one I know there’s going to be debate on the Hill.” But, he said, Obama’s State of the Union address wasn’t the right time or place for that volatile discussion. “The speech tonight was really about people are worried now about the economy and they’re worried about the future, and I think they were hungry for a road map how to win the future for America.”

The nation will have to wait and see how Obama will address the issue.

Right. That's what Barack Obama wants to do. After proposing huge new "investments" to drive us further toward the edge of financial disaster, he wants to tackle gun control and thereby awaken that sleeping giant. Nothing would please the Republicans more.
