The Los Angeles City Council will discuss for the first time AEG’s proposal to lure the NFL back to L.A. with a brand new downtown stadium.  Also the council will decide whether to increase investment by L.A.’s redevelopment agency in the upcoming Broad Museum.

Of course, this is all on the assumption council members show up to work.  Yesterday, two council members failed to arrive on time, leading to the lack of a quorum and the meeting’s cancellation. Why were they late? The Times has an outline here

The plan for the city to take in $930,000 from its redevelopment agency has been moved to today because of yesterday’s cancellation. Expect a long day at city hall.

Also, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will join other mayors today in Sacramento to plead with the governor not to close their redevelopment agencies, the Daily News reports.

Los Angeles County’s biennial homeless count began last night and will continue until Thursday. The count is used to allocate and plan resources for homeless individuals.  In 2009, L.A. County had 42,694 homeless individuals on any given night, excluding the cities of Pasadena, Glendale, and Long Beach, which conduct their own counts.
