"She will make a full recovery," Kelly said. "She's going to come back stronger and more committed than ever."

Doctors said on Thursday that her condition continues to improve, saying at a news conference that she attempted to speak and that she could be walking in two months.

The Los Angeles Times reported:

She is also scrolling through an iPad, said Dr. Michael Lemole, a neurosurgeon at Tucson's University Medical Center, where Giffords has been receiving care since she was shot in the head nearly two weeks ago.

There are also indications that Giffords has maintained all of her vision. In tests with colored objects, she is able to note not only their location but also their color, doctors said.

Kelly confirmed that his wife will be moved to a rehabilitation hospital in Houston as soon as Friday.

Doctors say overally they are optimistic about Giffords' progress.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

Dr. [G. Michael] Lemole said he and others on her medical team were "very optimistic because her recovery here was so quick," but cautioned everyone not to have unrealistic expectations.

"It's not uncommon for people to initially improve, then plateau," Dr. Lemole said.

Kelly also said he expect Giffords to return to Congress, and even had a pretty good of what her first event would be. "I'd be shocked if the first thing she does is not Congress on Your Corner at that Safeway.

Giffords, 40, was shot in the head an assassination attempt at that Safeway in Tucson nearly two weeks ago. Six people were killed in the shooting and more than a dozen others were injured. The allged shooter, 22-year-old Jared Lee Loughner, was indicted Wednesday on charges he attempted to kill Giffords and two of her aides, Ron Barber and Pamela Simon.

Loughner is currently being held in a Phoenix prison without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
