5 p.m.: The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards starts live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, host Ricky Gervais comes on with a beard and a glass of beer (or what looks like beer). Gervais makes a joke about Charlie Sheen trashing a hotel on a Monday. "What did he do New Year's Eve?"

Gervais says: The only reason "The Tourist" was nominated was so that the Hollywood Foreign Press could hang out with Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie. Airbrushing Sex and the City 2 posters b/c they look old?

Up for nominations: "The Walking Dead," speaking of the walking dead, Hugh Hefner, Just don't look at it when you touch it. Haha! Ricky Gervais is the best.

5:06 p.m.: First announcer: Scarlett Johansson. Up for best supporting actor in film and the Golden Globe goes to Christian Bale, "The Fighter." Christian Bale gives a shoutout to Mark Wahlberg. Thanking everyone, thanks Dickie and Mickey and his lovely wife, plus his daughter, says something to Robert De Niro but the music plays over him.

5:10 p.m.: Best supporting actress in a TV series presented by LL Cool J.: winner is Katey Sagal, "Sons of Anarchy." So happy for her. She looks beautiful in her red dress. "Shocked, but prepared." Thanks a bunch of people. Thanks husband, also creator of "Sons of Anarchy." "so glad you're the boss of me."

5:16 p.m.: Julianne Moore and Kevin Spacey present best mini series or TV movie and the award goes to "Carlos."

"Carlos tracks the bloody career of Ilich Ramirez Sanchez, dubbed "Carlos the Jackal" by the media (though not by this movie). Where Mesrine was a gangster who came to fancy himself a revolutionary, Assayas' Carlos (deftly played by Edgar Ramirez) is a revolutionary who never quite admits to himself that he's become a gangster."

5:21 p.m.: Ricky Gervais welcomes "Ashton Kutcher's dad, Bruce Willis." Bruce Willis presents "Red." Also category of best motion picture in a comedy or musical. Golden Globe award for best supporting actor in a tv series goes to: Chris Colfer in "Glee." He looks stunned. "I think I just dropped my heart between Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore." Colfer's speech was short and sweet. His last words went something like, to all those kids who were told they couldn't get what they want based on who they are, "screw that kids."

5:30 p.m.: Michelle Pfeiffer introduced "Alice in Wonderland," nominated for three Golden Globes. Eva Longoria welcomes president of Hollywood Foreign Press: Philip Berk. "Ricky next time you want me to qualify your movies, go to another guy." Ouch.

5:33 p.m.: Kevin Bacon and Milla Jovovich present nominees for best actor in a TV drama: Golden Globe goes to Steve Buscemi in "Boardwalk Empire." YES!!!! Buscemi is truly brilliant in "Boardwalk Empire." Gonna try and talk fast before that sad music comes on. Thanks cast plus Kelly MacDonald, plus heart and soul of "Boardwalk Empire," Terri Winter. Thanks wife and Lucien. 

5:37 p.m.: Five shows nominated for best TV series drama. Golden Globe goes to "Boardwalk Empire." Of course. 

5:43 p.m.: Andrew Garfield (nominee for "The Social Network") tries to say "inspiringly" about three times, finally gets it right to applause. Ricky Gervais welcomes Alec Baldwin and Jennifer Lopez. Nominees for best original song. Golden Globe goes to "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me," from "Burlesque," sung by Cher. 

5:49 p.m.: Golden Globe for Best Original Score goes to Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross "The Social Network." Trent Reznor gives thanks. He looks so different from how he looked in the '90s. Much, much better looking.

5:55 p.m.: Justin Bieber and Hailee Steinfeld from "True Grit" present nominees for best animated feature film. The Golden Globe goes to: "Toy Story 3." Steinfeld is beautiful in her white dress and what seems like a head taller than Justin Bieber.

5:58 p.m.: "Wow, were you guys even born for Toy Story 1?"

5:59 p.m.: Ricky Gervais welcomes Robert Downey Jr., "are these porn films?"

6:03pm - Annette Bening wins Best Actress in a Comedy Movie for "The Kids Are Alright." "Very proud to be part of this special film...my partner, Julianne Moore, I have to thank first...Julianne, you are a class act, thank you."

6:09pm - Uh og, Ricky's back. "He has played a boxer....and Rambo." Sly Stallone takes the stage.

6:11pm - Geoffrey Rush and Tilda Swinton announce nominees for Best Actor in Mini-Series or TV Movie - my money's on Al Pacino.

6:12pm - Al Pacino wins Best Actor for his role in "You Don't Know Jack." Takes the stage to a standing ovation. "It's great for actors to portray real characters...because that relationship is so interesting and intimate and wonderful."

6:16pm - Geoffrey and Tilda announce nominees for Best Actress in Mini-Series or TV Movie.

6:17pm - Claire Danes wins for "Temple Grandin", her second win for the role.

6:17pm - Claire's acceptance speech - "Just so special to be here with Temple tonight...risky movie to make, and really wouldn't have been made if it wasn't for HBO..." Moving speech, but less quivering please!

6:23pm - Zac Efron takes the stage to introduce "The Kids Are Alright." He really has filled out a little for his upcoming movie role! And I'm sure girls around the world are fainting right now, especially now that he's single.

6:24pm - Ricky Gervais taking credit for Steve Carell's success! Tina Fey and Steve Carell announce nominees for Best Screenplay. "Don't turn the channel, we're still stars" says Steve. "There's a story about a couple of Lesbians...I mean, a lesbian couple."

6:26pm - And the Golden Globe for Best Screenplay is rightfully awarded to Aaron Sorkin for "The Social Network."

6:29pm - Hottie Alert! Chris Helmsworth and Chris Evans announce the nominees for Best Supporting Actress in TV. 

6:30pm - Jane Lynch wins for Sue Sylvester on "Glee'! Of course, that's how Sue Sees It!

6:31pm - Jane gives thanks to Ian Brennan, the show's original creator and the man behind Sue's words. 

Quick roundup - Steve and Tina brought the laughs, as always, and Aaron Sorkin's acceptance speech drew attention to "smart girls who can have fun." Jane Lynch's win was well deserved, Gleeks around the world are belting out more showtunes as we speak. Great news...

6:37pm - Ricky introduces Olivia Wilde and Robert Pattinson as "young and thin...and great to look at, which is a good thing as they're presenting the award for Best Foreign Film, a category in America that no one cares for!"

6:37pm - Best Foreign Film goes to Denmark's "In A Better World."

6:38pm - Helen Mirren takes the stage to introduce "The King's Speech." The film has 7 Golden Globe nominations.

6:39pm - Vanessa Williams and Blair Underwood announce the nominations for Best Actress in TV. Laura Linney wins for "The Big C', but is mysteriously missing from the awards.

6:46pm - Jane Fonda, looking at least 30 years younger than she is, introduces "Burlesque" as a Best Film contender. 

6:48pm - Kaley Cuoco (who just announced her engagement on the red carpet) and Matthew Bomer announce the nominees for Best Actor in TV, Jim Parsons of "The Big Bang Theory" takes the win! We love Sheldon Cooper!

6:51pm - Jeremy Irons announces the nominees for Best Supporting Actress in a Movie - Melissa Leo takes the win for "The Fighter."

6:52pm - Melissa Leo gives a hilarious acceptance speech, "I can't believe they wanted me to play Mark and Christian's mum, I'm a little young!"

6:58pm - MATT. DAMON. Takes the stage. And presents the Cecil B. DeMille "I don't go to the movies a lot, as I spend most of my time making them, so I didn't know who Robert De Niro was until 5 years ago...I was surprised to find out that many people think he's the greatest actor alive...and who could forget Taxi Driver, he's literally unrecognizable as a blonde, 13-year old hooker."

7:03pm- The audience gives De Niro a standing ovation, and Matt (swoon) hands him the award with a warm embrace. 

7:07pm- De Niro's speech is a mix of humor and sincerity, as he goes over his life's work. 

7:13pm- Megan Fox takes the stage to present "The Tourist," nominated for three Golden Globes. 

7:14pm- Annette Bening presents the award for best director of a motion picture - David Fincher wins for "The Social Network." Can't believe I still haven't seen this movie!

7:15pm- Jimmy Falon (love him!) and January Jones announce the nominees for best TV comedy. The award goes to "Glee"!!! This is turning out to be quite a night for the FOX comedy. 

7:19pm- Glee's writers give a shout out to public school teachers, who they say do a tremendous job without receiving any credit. 

7:24pm- Alicia Keys introduces "Black Swan," with 4 Golden Globe nominations.  

7:26pm- Halle Berry gives the award for best actor in a motion picture comedy or musical to Paul Giamatti. Sad loss for Johnny Depp fans - he was nominated for two awards! 

7:27pm- Paul Giamatti salutes Canada in his acceptance speech. 

7:32pm- Jason Gordon Levitt presents "Inception," in which he plays a starring role. 

7:33pm- Jeff Bridges presents the award for best actress in a motion picture drama to Natalie Portman for "Black Swan." Is this foreshadowing her Oscar win?

7:35pm- Natalie Portman's speech is touching and very genuine. She thanks her grandmother, parents and fiance as well as her cast, especially her co-star, Mila "sweet lips" Kunis. 

7:37pm- Back again, Ricky Gervais introduces Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. 

7:38pm- Tom Hanks and Tim Allen announce the nominees for best motion picture musical or comedy. "The Kids are Alright" takes the award! 

7:46pm- Sandra Bullock presents the award for best actor in a motion picture drama to Colin Firth!! So excited to see him win and have "King's Speech" recognized for something. 

7:47pm- Colin Firth gives a great acceptance speech. A few funny moments: "This is the only thing standing between me and a Harley Davidson" and his mention of "man love" and his "geisha girl." 

7:54pm- Michael Douglas gets an overwhelming welcome when he takes the stage but says, "there's gotta be a better way to receive a standing ovation," addressing his recent battle with Cancer. He presents the final award of the night for best motion picture drama to "The Social Network," concluding the night.
