WikiLeaks' Julian Assange has files on scores of detainees at Guantanamo Bay Prison, a source tells Reuters, meaning President Barack Obama could come under fire for prematurely releasing dangerous prisoners to hasten a promised shut down of the heavily criticized facility.

Obama planned to quickly scale down operations at the military prison upon entering office, but met resistance from his opponents and struggled to find places to house some of the suspected terrorists.

Pentagon officials are not commenting yet. And outside of WikiLeaks, no media organizations appear to have access to the Guantanamo files.

Reuters reports:

This week the office of the Director of National Intelligence, the government's top intelligence official, released statistics showing that one in four of the 598 detainees released from Guantanamo are either suspected or confirmed to have become re-engaged in "terrorist or insurgent activities" after their release.

U.S. agencies believe that 83 remain at large.
