Student protesters attacked a car carrying Prince Charles and his wife Camilla on Thursday following the news that a tuition hike was approved by the British government. The royal couple was reportedly unharmed.

According to CNN, "protesters beat on the side of their aromored, chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce with sticks and bottles, smashing a side window, denting a rear panel and splashing it with white paint."

The attack in London came after the House of Commons voted to raise the existing university tuition cap by roughly three times its current rate. The measure still has to go through the House of Lords and be approved by the queen before it becomes law.

According to The New York Times, "Prime Minister David Cameron called the attack on the royal couple’s car 'shocking and regrettable.'"

The New York Times also reported that at least 12 police officers were injured during the protets and at least 43 were arrested.
